Success Stories Sue, who is one of United Way’s newest Brand Ambassadors had been out of the job market for over 5 years when she came to WHW for assistance. Sue credits WHW workshops like “Job Club,” “Raising Your Confidence” and “Optimizing Your LinkedIn Profile” to giving her the skills to successfully enter the workforce. Way to go Sue…great job!! Having a nice suit for job interviews may seem like a small thing, but not to single father and WHW Job Seeker Jaime, who started a new job at Party City! The best part of getting the job, Jaime shared, was hearing his son say, “I’m proud of you, Dad!” We are proud of you too Jaime…Congratulations! Maria, who faithfully attended WHW Employment Readiness Workshops during her unemployment, was happy to report that “She got the job!” Maria who is now a substitute teacher at the Orange County Children’s Art Center could not wait to come in and ring the WHW Bell of Success. Way to go Maria!! Regina, who now has her dream at Saddleback College’s Accommodated Testing Center for the Disabled, had been out of work for six years when she came to WHW. She faithfully completed every Computer Class that WHW offers in addition to Resume Development and Mock Interview Training Workshops. Her determination was inspiring and she continues to inspire others every day! Way to go Regina!! When Sherrice came to WHW, she had survived an escape from domestic violence, but needed a good job in order to be self-sufficient. The services Sherrice received from WHW helped her to look professional, took away her fear of interviewing, improved her computer skills and most of all gave her the confidence to land the job she wanted. Today Sherrice has a full time call center job with Jackson Hewitt and is excited about her future! Marek participated in WHW workshops, learned how to develop a resume and interview confidently before landing his very first job! “One of the things that helped me the most was knowing how to answer ‘Tell me About Yourself’ and also that I needed to ask questions at the end of any interview.” Marek will be continuing his education, but now he has a job to help fund it! Way to go Marek!! When Nora came to WHW, she was seriously underemployed, working on-call and not bringing home enough to cover rent or food. Once referred to WHW, Nora began attending employment readiness workshops and computer training. As Nora’s confidence grew, so did her hope for a brighter future. Now Nora is working full time with a good salary. We could not be happier for you Nora…Congratulations! When Philip first came to WHW, he had very little computer training and began with Basic Computer classes. As his skills increased, so did his confidence moving him into Intermediate classes and a new job at First Transit! Now that Philip is employed, he still plans to return to WHW to continue his computer training and can’t wait to enroll in the Advanced Workshops! Way to go Philip!!
